Twilight saga is one of my favourite films. From analysing the opening scene, one can tell that the genre is fantasy/adventure/violent based. I can tell this because the story starts with a deer being hunted in a forest. There are two steps that I have noticed in this scene, firstly the music is calm, but can have a slight mystery to it, and the narrator (Bella) is introducing her thoughts of death (which yet again, also indicates about the films genre being violent). This type of music can help set the mood of a calm yet cautionous area, as it is set in the forest after all, the tone of it also helps the audience concerntrate on what the narrator is saying, plus it can also be as if we are sneeking up on the deer too. Which leads to my second step, a clash of music comes in, which is when the deer runs off, and a chase beggins. The rythem of the music is fast which can help set the mood of running, or hunting in this case.
However, the scene moves on by the deer being caught and a light covering the screen, trailing to another place. This is where the background music has gone back to a calm tone, once again, allowing the audience to focus on what the narrator is saying. Also the voice that we hear is pretty dull, and has no spark to it, this shows the characters personailty.

Why I chose to do A level Media
I chose to do A level media because I believe that it can open many doors for me in the future. I also think that it is a good skill to have for general life activities such as filming memories with friends. It will also be interesting to realise some of the "simple" skills that are used in films, and how effective they are. Once i have learnt some of these skills, I'll be pointing them out all the time when I watch films, people will start to get annoyed, but at least i'll look smart! From choosing A level Media, it can help me use my imagination and even have the chance to use some of my ideas, by putting them on screen. I never took Media as a subject as a GCSE lesson, but have been told that it is a very interesting subject, so far, they are right!
