voice over

From reviewing our clips that we have so far, no one in our group thought that the audience could understand what was going on. This is why we thought it was be a good idea to use dialogue in the opening.
To help the audience understand what the situation is, there would be a voiceover of the main character. It would be as if she if talking or thinking to herself; and describing how she is feeling. This way it can indicate to the viewers that she has been kidnapped.

However, as it is only for the opening, we may need someone with a voice that can have a depressing tone to it, this would set the mood.

Places to film

There are two scenes in our opening, in the cellar and in a park.
For a cellar, we preferably wanted a dark, cramped place which would show the bad conditions that the main character is in for the past ten years. This is why we chose one of our members (shannon)'s cellar. We had to get permission by her parents which was fine as long a we put anything that we moved, back. Even though we wanted a small cramped place, this made it harder to film at different angles. We was limited on the 180 degree rule, so could only have two places to film. To overcome this, we filmed closeups of the main character and filmed her point of view.

There was many parks that we could film in, however; we was aiming to set the scene in a park that has a lot of facilities such as a park, trees, paths and of cause there needs to be a variety of aged people there. This would show the park is an innocent place where nothing it likely to happen. this is why we chose to film in gillingham park.

LOGOS

At the start of every film opening, there are always logos of the productions and pictures that helped create the film.
Even if this is optional, my group have decided to make the opening realistic as pissible, and by making our own logos, we think this will help.
The was a variety of names that we had come up with such as "Cameo Producations". This was one of our favourites. However we felt like we wanted everyone in our group to be more involved. To do this, we used the letter at the start of every name in our group, to see what words we can form from them. We came up with "ASK G". This was most effective we thought.
Our next step was choosing the background and formate that we was going to use. To do this, we used the GIMP program. It provided a variety of fonts and backgrounds we could have used. Here is the final logo that we have chosen...

problems with editing

Today, I took on the ful responsibilty of editing the film opening on my own. Im not very familiar with the program that we was using, which was final cut express, so I just experimented with new techniques.
Previously, the credits at the beginning have been edited and transitions have been put in that help the program fade in and out. Yet, there was a problem with one of the transitions, it was different to all the others, even if they had the same settings. This meant that I had to delete this credit and redo it. At first it was hard to get the hang of this, but I was able to do it in the end! After this was edited in, this is where the problem striked, all the other credits had dissapeared, and I had saved the work just after this, which means their gone completely.
Now they have to be done all over again, which could be good so we have a reason to do more work to the credits and make them even better.
This problem didnt help us keep calm becuase it meant that we went back a step and have more work to do, at this point the stress was beginning to kick in, in order to make the deadline.

filming ~3

Today we did more filming. We had to go back to a member of my groups house as we realised there had to be even more shots done! We tried to be imaginative by doing closeups to the actors eyes, hoping it would add effect and show how she is feeling (in this case, scared) We was thinking at this point, the music could get louder to build up tentsion, we havnt totaly decided yet, but will expereiment when it comes to the time. This time, we took more thought about the shots, more than the lighting, this is because we knew how to do the lighting this time.

Costumes, props and actors

Due to the fact that one of the scenes in our opening is in a dark cellar, we have chosen that the main character, Daisy (grace) should wear dark and thin clothing. this will help show the audience that she is in harsh conditions. However, it is cold down in the cellar and we usually spend a while down there, so in-between shots, we covered graces shoulders to help keep her warm. Wr also tied her hands and feet to show she has been taken.

For our props, the main character is sitting on a plain wooden chair in the cellar. This will also show the harsh conditions she is in. Another prop that will be used is a pin board with loads of female teenagers on it, for the killer to think about who it is going to strike next.

At this point, we only have two actors, one who is called Daisy(who is played by grace) and the voice over that is in the news (played by shannon). For the voice over it was hard to try and get someone who is well pronounced, to make the new reader to sound realistic.

filming briefing ~ 2

The week after our previous filming session, we did another at the same place, this time we covered more work, as we filmed our story board too. We also knew slightly what to expect now. Which means we was able to get straight back to work. I felt a bit sorry for Grace because it was very cold down in the cellar and she was wearing very thin clothes.

Story board

Here is a video of our story board…

This is only one possible story line that we have chosen. Yet this is the one we are most likely going to use, except there maybe some adjustments that we believe would improve the opening. Its useful to have an animatic of our story line because it helps us to visualise the transitions and also simply reflect what we're going to do. They are also helpful because music can be edited into the film and make the cartoon story line more life like. It has helped us think more about the story and how it can be improved. This is why i think there might be some changes or improvements it.
