film opening ideas

Idea 1:  A prostitute is alone on a street, and gets taken, the scene flashes back and forth from a police investigation meeting.  The flashes would get faster to build up tension towards the prostitute being taken.

 Genre: Crime
Certificate: 15

Idea 2: Starts off with a family filming having a good time in a park. The father firstly films his daughter, and moves on to film someone else, he then moves back to film the daughter again, and she’s gone.  Ten years later we see the daughter, and she is still capture.

Genre: Thriller/crime
Certificate: 15

  1. Idea 1 - how would the audience know that she is a prostitute? Would the representation of this mean that she would have to be seen with men? Does this make it an 18?
Idea 2 - does 10 years pass in the opening? Variety of shots?

  2. For our idea 1, we will try to show that the girl is a prostitute by what she is wearing, which will be long black boots and fake designer looking clothes. There'll be cars beeping at her, which would show no one respects her because of the "career" she has. Also, from doing some research on film certificates, I believe that the film would be rated an 18, because of any sexual content and some people may not understand how she is feeling, it could also be an bad influence on people who are 15 years of age.

For our 2nd idea,we concidered poltting the problem at the beginning of the film. This would get the audience thinking why this happend? Who is this girl? Who did this to her? To show that 10 years have passed, the screen will go blank and silent, with the words "10 years before". This could get the audience trembling and thinking what to expect of how the girl is living after ten years. Straight after this, the shot will be on the girl, she was much younger, happier and vulnerable; which would indicate something was to happen to her.
